Town Amenities

Pulga may be nestled deep in the Feather River Canyon many miles from the closest metropolis, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy some of the comforts of living on the grid while you're here.  Whether you want to cook and relax indoors or outside, Pulga makes leisure time easy.  Use the large, equipped indoor kitchen space in our communal Long House or make use of the ample outdoor cookery options of the Town Park or Whiskey Flats Camp.  If you fancy a more stately space for an event,  workshop, corporate meeting, or concert, take a look at the Schoolhouse, somewhat removed from downtown at the top, above town.  

THE SCHOOLHOUSE

Looking for a unique space to plan a retreat, craft a celebration, or hold a workshop?  The Pulga Schoolhouse can seat up to 60 people comfortably.  The four floor-to-ceiling windows give an interior forest-feel and overlook the large madrone trees and Feather River and tracks.  

The backdrop and bar were designed by San Francisco artist and dear friend of Pulga Jesse Wilson - this 3-dimensional custom redwood installation serves to diffuse sound for loud performances, provides shelving for the bar, and will continue to evolve to reflect the growth and expansion of Pulga.  

This cozy, eclectic space is sure to provide a memorable experience for guests, coworkers, or partygoers.   The large wet bar, with 10 seats, can comfortably accommodate a six-person board meeting or a sixty-six-person presentation.  There's an adjacent kitchen that can be used for prep and a kitchenette window once used for serving school meals under which buffet tables can be setup for group meals or snacks.

The long house

Family always seems to congregate in the kitchen, and the Long House is no exception.  With two full-size refrigerators, chest freezer, gas range, oven, and microwave, this cozy communal space is always open to fix a quick pour over coffee, whip up a snack, or prepare a full meal for yourself or large groups.  

The colonial dining table in the room adjacent to the kitchen seats 12 comfortably, and the adjoining living space provides ample lounge space with comfy couches and chairs for 12 additional guests.  In colder months, warm up next to the large wood-burning stove and play a board game from the town's vintage collection.  When it's warm, enjoy a cold beverage on the creekside patio.

Once used to hold the native salmon and trout caught in the river downtown, this tiled stone tub is now a great place to take a morning soak, relax after a hike, or take in an exceptional star gazing eve.

Filled halfway, the tub can accommodate 6-8 people; at full capacity, the tub comfortably seats 18.

town park & Pirate Ship Deck

Group breakfasts, cool afternoons, casual nighttime gatherings - Pulga Town Park is the place to be.  This spacious outdoor park is an ideal spot for events large or small.  

Come sit by the fire or eat fruit off the branch of the cherry, peach, and plum trees.   Make a meal for your group on one of the 3 barbecues or fry up breakfast on the flat top griddle.  The 2 double sinks and 3 prep stations provide ample room to cook comfortably.  Multiple picnic tables can be used for individual groups or arranged together to easily seat 75 or more people.  

On the edge of the park sits Princess D, Pulga's very own pirate ship crafted by our lovely sailor friends from Oakland.  This playground/band stage/adult dance platform will have soon-to-come climbing and play features for the kids.   

Across the street, swing in hammocks from trees, lounge under shaded beds, play croquet, toss a horseshoe, or kick a soccer ball.  

The ClubHouse

Our club clubhouse features a beautiful deck that can work for your event or large gathering in a variety of needs! Use this beautiful deck to host a band, bar, serve as a seating area, or dance party!

The Grounds

The grounds of Pulga offer ample place to relax and enjoy your stay! Our grounds are a magical and offer ample space for camping, long scenic walks and lazy days on one of our many decks. 

Whiskey Flats

On the outskirts of town, Whiskey Flats sits tucked between Flea Creek and Camp Creek Road.  Four renovated adjoining cabins previously home to the railroad workers and miners living in town in the turn of the 20th century, the Flats continue the rustic legacy of these tradesmen with updated comforts and modern conveniences.

Off the grid, the Flats have running water and plumbing but no electricity.  The cabins sit on their own green space, equipped with two double outdoor sinks, a large prep station, a propane stovetop, griddle, and bbq, and two restrooms, making this part of town an ideal space for groups on hunting or fishing trips or guests interested in camping and glamping.
